The cause is faulty Takata airbags, which can cause serious injury or even death to drivers and passengers. In total, 84,000 cars that the concern produced in the early 2000s were banned. To date, almost three dozen motorists have died in the United States due to dangerous airbags.

In the early 2000s, Takata was the largest supplier of airbags to many of the world’s automakers. Two decades later, representatives of several brands spoke about the dangers of Japanese airbags. Experts have concluded that the squib filling in these airbags degrades over time and can rupture uncontrollably while driving. In this case, the driver and passengers may receive injuries incompatible with life.

To date, there have been 27 known fatalities resulting from the rupture of a Takata airbag squib. One of the dead was the owner of a 2006 Nissan Sentra. In this regard, the Japanese manufacturer has published an order prohibiting the use of Sentra sedans from 2002-2006, as well as Pathfinder SUVs assembled in 2002-2004, and Infiniti QX4, which were produced from 2002 to 2003. All owners of these machines should immediately contact service centers.

At the end of January, Toyota issued a similar ban. The Japanese brand has reported that older Corolla, Corolla Matrix and RAV4 models are equipped with dangerous Takata airbags.
