Panasonic is developing autonomous living rooms on wheels that the tech giant hopes will be available to everyone as early as 2035. As part of the Tokyo International Motor Show, participants will be able to drive in such a lounge.

The concept, called the Mobile Living Room, combines autonomous vehicle technology with the comfort and entertainment we expect from our homes.

“Since its founding, Panasonic has been closely connected with people’s lives through home appliances and housing. Using this knowledge, we will create a future that will touch people’s hearts,” said Toshihiro Miyamichi, strategy manager of Panasonic’s Automotive Interiors Division.

Essentially, an untitled vehicle on autopilot will be a moving transparent “aquarium” for people. It has an L-shaped bench inside with a transparent screen facing the passengers. Panasonic says that these screens will not be touch-sensitive, but will respond to gestures and words of passengers.
