Before the new law, small companies, individual entrepreneurs and individuals avoided taking out MTPL policies for cars registered with taxis, since such insurance was more expensive than regular insurance. Now the state has banned such fraud. Taxi drivers caught in such actions face the loss of their license.

Taxi drivers may lose their work permit if they indicate a false purpose for using the vehicle. At the same time, aggregators are now responsible to passengers in case of accidents caused by taxi drivers. In addition, if a special MTPL is not issued for the cars involved in the taxi, insurers may demand compensation from the driver and the aggregator for the costs of paying victims.

According to representatives of the Renaissance Group, taxi drivers are most often more careful per kilometer driven than ordinary motorists. However, due to the significant mileage, the aggregators’ cars bring big losses. In this regard, the cost of a compulsory insurance policy for such cars is higher than for other drivers.

Despite the difference in the cost of compulsory motor insurance, the maximum increase in price for one trip will be from five to nine rubles. According to experts, pricing will be largely influenced by spare parts, as well as the cost of fuel. At the same time, careful taxi drivers can count on a 30 percent discount on compulsory motor liability insurance.

At the end of September, experts calculated the cost of compulsory motor liability insurance for Lada Granta and Moskvich 6. Many factors influence the final cost of policies.
