Deputy Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach told reporters about plans to localize Russian electric vehicles at the facilities of an Uzbek plant. According to him, local companies are interested in launching large-scale assembly of the Atom, and then in completely localizing the production of the electric model. The parties are currently in the process of negotiations.

Atom is a domestically developed electric hatchback: Russian engineers created the platform, powertrain, battery, control electronics and software from scratch. Currently, 13 functional samples have been manufactured, which will be tested until mid-2024 to configure and fine-tune all systems. The start of mass production is scheduled for 2025, and the first production batch of 36 thousand vehicles is already fully booked.

The main plant for Atom will be the capital’s Moskvich. It was also previously reported that the assembly could be established in Naberezhnye Chelny. According to new information, production may appear outside of Russia – in Uzbekistan. Negotiations on this are already underway, but it is not yet known which Uzbek company is interested in localizing Atoms.

During August and September, the Atom startup accepted pre-orders for electric cars. In order to complete an application and receive a unique key that opens access to your personal account, you had to make a deposit of seven thousand rubles. The digital key was needed not only to take a place in the queue, but also to monitor the readiness status of the electric vehicle.

The Atom will only have rear-wheel drive and a 77-kilowatt-hour battery. On one charge, the electric car will travel up to 500 kilometers, and it will take about seven seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour. There are no other details about the car yet.
