According to TASS with reference to the company’s report, it is going to find a partner for the production of trucks at the ex-enterprise of the Japanese brand in Ulyanovsk. Who will act as this partner is still unknown: it is possible that manufacturers from the PRC will come to the rescue here. Now the plant, which previously produced trucks of various classes, has been stopped. It has been idle since March 2022.

Isuzu left the Russian market in July without finding an opportunity to resume work. Its former partner Sollers acquired a 100% stake in Isuzu Rus JSC, which also included a production site in Ulyanovsk. Also, Sollers was obliged to supply spare parts and warranty service for Japanese cars sold in Russia.

A joint venture with Isuzu was organized in 2007, and in 2008 the plant was put into operation. It produced light-duty, medium-duty and heavy trucks. In 2021, 3.7 thousand trucks were assembled at the Ulyanovsk site. Isuzu was going to increase the volume to five thousand a year, but in 2022 this plan had to be abandoned.

Sollers is also actively developing its own brand. Last week, he confirmed the development of Sollers Argo ultra-efficient van with LPG – they are equipped with vans with a two-liter “aspirated” with 147 horsepower. In 2024, the brand hopes to release electric versions of the Argo and Atlant.
