According to Reuters, on Monday, car assembly at the plant that produces the Kodiaq, Karoq crossovers and the flagship Superb was paused. The reason was a shortage of components supplied by a partner plant from Slovenia, which was recently damaged by floods. It is unclear how long the forced shutdown will last, but the conveyor will be restarted no earlier than in a week.

Skoda supplied parts for internal combustion engines from Slovenia, Reuters clarifies. The flood, which interrupted shipments, will affect the activities of the entire Volkswagen Group, the Czech brand said in a statement.

In addition to the plant in Kvasiny, disruptions at Skoda’s main site in Mladá Boleslav cannot be ruled out. Now the plant’s conveyor belt is operating on a normal schedule.

The Slovenian partner is expected to cope with the consequences of the flood and resume supplies next week. According to some reports, Skoda is also negotiating to purchase components necessary for production from the Chinese.

Meanwhile, the plant in Kvasiny needs to prepare for the start of production of the new Kodiaq and Superb. The appearance of both new products has already been partially revealed – they were shown in camouflage, and the interiors have been completely declassified. The premiere is expected in November this year.
