Their production will be established in the Ulyanovsk region, TASS writes with reference to the regional governor Alexei Russkikh. On the territory of the industrial park of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant they will produce airbags and seat belts, ECUs, as well as steering columns and the steering wheels themselves. The new facilities should be put into operation before 2026, but Sollers plans to launch production earlier – at the beginning of 2025.

First of all, localized products will be addressed to UAZ vehicles, but they are also planning to supply them to other Russian automobile plants. “We don’t have such production facilities in Russia yet,” Russkikh said, commenting on the future project.

A very high level of localization is promised, right down to magnesium alloys. Before this, they had not been made in Russia, emphasized Nikolai Sobolev, General Director of Sollers PJSC, noting the uniqueness of the project for the automotive industry.

At the first stage, Sollers will invest about 1.5 billion rubles in new production.

A few days ago it was reported that near Saratov they had launched the production of spare parts for Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. They are now made at the facilities of the Balakovo JSC Rezinotekhnika, which produces rubber products and components. Previously, the profile of Rezinotekhnika was limited to parts for Russian cars.
