About 40 percent are waiting for the resumption of production of Volga cars, TASS reports citing a survey by the Feedback center. In it, two thousand people noted which cars they would like to return, or which should be produced on a large scale. A third of its participants would like to see more Nivas on the roads, and another quarter (22 percent) believe that it is worth reviving the Chaika.

Judging by the survey results, the resurrected Volga will be in demand among Russians, analysts say. It could be returned by mid-2024: in the summer, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that GAZ plans to prepare a production model during this period, and will show the design “soon.” They want to establish production at one of the factories of foreign companies that have left Russia.

A year before, in the summer of 2022, Manturov allowed the return of Pobeda, but did not provide any details.

The Russians also chose the most successful examples of import substitution in the automotive industry. Thus, more than half (58 percent) praised Lada, another 31 and 29 percent of the votes went to KamAZ and Moskvich. The fourth was the luxury Aurus (27 percent), the fifth was the UAZ (25 percent), and the sixth was the GAZ (16 percent).

In the fall, Moskvich sales dropped to about 1.5 thousand cars per month due to price increases in August, but at the end of the 45th week of 2023, the brand, which sells converted Chinese JACs, still managed to enter the top 10 of the market. Lada remains first on it, followed by Haval and Chery in the top 3.
