The Trumpchi E8 debuted in China – a smaller and simplified version of the Trumpchi E9 with a wheelbase shortened by 140 millimeters. The fundamental design is the same: a transverse engine, a reliance on gasoline-electric power plants and a luxurious interior with six or seven seats. The G8 will go on sale before the end of the year, and GAC promises attractive prices.

GAC Trumpchi E8 is much more compact than the flagship model: length/width/height are 4920/1900/1760 millimeters, respectively. In terms of distance from bumper to bumper, the figure eight is 273 millimeters smaller! However, the new product cannot be called a budget one: there are full LED optics, automatic doors, and unusual backlit labels.

The “junior” model has a more conservative interior: for example, there is no touchscreen for the front passenger, the diagonal of the screens is smaller, the “captain’s” chairs in the second row are simpler, and there is no expensive two-tone leather trim. But the buyer can choose between separate seats and a sofa in the third row, and the Trumpchi E8 also has more interior transformation options.

There is no confirmed information about the technology: it is only known that the new product will be a rechargeable hybrid. According to the certification authorities, at the start of sales GAC will offer a power plant with a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine (133 horsepower), a traction electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 25.6 kilowatt-hours. The power reserve without activating the internal combustion engine is up to 116 kilometers (WLTC).

The GAC Trumpchi E8 will go on sale before the end of the year, and it is already clear: the new minivan will be significantly cheaper than the Trumpchi E9, which costs from 330 thousand yuan (4.4 million rubles) in China. Technical specifications, configurations and prices will be revealed in the fall. For Russians, the model is interesting in its own way, because its predecessor, the GN8, is sold here at a price of 3.4 million rubles.
