“Autostat”: taxi services in Russia are faced with a shortage of budget foreign cars

Taxi services in Russia are faced with a shortage of budget foreign cars – it has become much more difficult to renew vehicle fleets. This was reported by Avtostat with reference to industry representatives. Problems with resolving this issue began after many foreign cars left the Russian market. According to the head of the press service of the Maxim service, Pavel Stennikov, most of the cars were purchased in the pre-pandemic period. It is noted that after 3 years, with intensive use, the machines need to be replaced. Currently, the issue of updating the vehicle fleet has become acute, but due to the fact that the market for budget models has essentially ceased to exist, companies have practically no choice.

Quite a few Chinese cars have appeared in Russia, but their purchase is unjustified from a financial point of view. Now new cars from China are expensive, and the costs for them simply will not pay off. Basically, vehicle fleets are replenished at the expense of the budget “Grants”, and it is also practiced to purchase used cars, including those that require repairs. Also appearing in taxi fleets are Moskvich, Chery, Haval, as well as models of other brands, but in much smaller volumes. According to the Yandex Go service, the need for new cars is covered by 70 percent. European and Korean cars have become more difficult to maintain, but in the premium segment they are in better condition than in the economy class.
