Since the beginning of autumn, most EU countries have banned cars with Russian registration plates from entering their territories, regardless of the purpose of the trip. Now, according to the RIA Novosti news agency, the agency has assessed the effectiveness of some anti-Russian sanctions.

The European Parliament recognized that the ban on entry into the EU countries, as well as the confiscation of cars with Russian license plates, are excessive restrictions within the framework of the sanctions policy. According to politicians, such measures discredit the very concept of sanctions. Experts have called for Russians to be allowed to travel around Europe by car for tourism purposes. Moreover, if it turns out that cars are being imported into countries for resale, they must be confiscated.

Despite the recommendations, the European Parliament resolution is not binding, since it is not a legally binding document. Therefore, each EU country can independently decide whether to maintain the ban on the entry of Russian cars.

One of the EU countries that did not ban the entry of Russian cars was Spain. At the same time, all EU states bordering Russia have denied entry to our compatriots.
