Hyundai can’t cope with the influx of people wanting to buy the Exter crossover

The Hyundai Exter compact crossover, which appeared on the market in this country in the summer of 2023, has won the hearts of local car enthusiasts. The demand for the model is so high that a queue of orders has formed, stretching for as many as 9 months.

According to Autocar, the number of pre-orders for the Hyundai Exter has already exceeded 75,000 units. The current production rate at the Chennai plant is not enough to meet demand. Therefore, the company decided to increase Exter production by a third – up to 9 thousand cars per month.

At the same time, the main interest is not in the basic versions of the crossover, but in more expensive trim levels with advanced equipment. It is curious that the influx of customers dreaming of the Exter has not yet affected the sales of the brand’s other budget crossover, the Venue. It still sells over 10,000 units a month in the Indian market. In general, this crossover, starting from 600 thousand rupees (approximately 670 thousand rubles), has already secured second place in popularity in India after the Tata Punch model. The compact 3.8-meter Exter is built on the Grand i10 Nios platform and has 6 airbags, a digital instrument panel and ABS. The engine is a 1.2-liter turbo engine with 69 or 83 horsepower.
