The UzAuto plant in Uzbekistan, the last automaker to produce this model, will soon remove it from the assembly line. According to the local publication Avtostrada, this could happen as early as early 2024. The freed up capacity will be redistributed among other Chevrolet models, including some new one that has not yet been announced.

Over the years, the Chevrolet Lacetti was produced in South Korea, at ZAZ, at the Kaliningrad Avtotor, as well as in Kazakhstan, China, Vietnam and a number of other countries. The design of the model, which was produced with several body types, was developed by the Italian studio Pininfarina. When the Lacetti became morally and technically outdated, it was replaced by the Chevrolet Cruze.

For the last seven years, Lacetti has been assembled only in Uzbekistan, at the facilities of the UzAuto plant. According to the company’s website, the sedan is available with a 1.5-liter engine with 106 horsepower, manual or automatic. On the local market, such a car costs 169,118,000 soums (1.25 million rubles at today’s exchange rate).

“Avtostrada” writes that as part of its entry into the stock exchange, UzAuto Motors promises to launch production of not just one, but two new models: a Chevrolet in the budget segment and a premium Cadillac. What kind of cars these will be is not specified.

As for the Lacetti, it is likely that the last batch of such cars will go on sale before the end of production. Among other plans of UzAuto is the transfer of sales to an online format: concluding an agreement will be possible only through an application, website or telegram.
