13 parts in cars have been named for which the traffic police will deprive drivers of their rights in 2024

Many car owners do not know that it is now prohibited to independently replace individual parts in the car without permission from the traffic police. According to Article 12.5 of the Administrative Code, such violations are punishable by a fine of up to 5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights for a period of six months to a year.

The restrictions apply to body elements that can come off and injure people in an accident. These are bumpers, spoilers, body kits, as well as headlights, mirrors, and wheel rims. All of the listed components undergo mandatory certification in the Russian Federation, so their replacement requires legalization. For example, installing a non-original bumper without the approval of an accredited laboratory is prohibited. To do this, you need to go through the certification procedure and register the modification with the traffic police. The bumper must be made of plastic that does not produce sharp fragments in the event of an accident. The situation is similar with glazing and mirrors.

As for the interior, you cannot change the steering wheel, seats, panels, and trim elements yourself. All this is designed to ensure safety and requires certification. Finally, the wrong choice of wheel rims can affect the performance of the chassis and the operation of the speedometer.
