The Chinese regulator has published a list of cars that will be repaired free of charge. At risk are the 2019-2023 Corolla from the FAW-Toyota JV (350 thousand units), the 2018-2022 Highlander from the GAC-Toyota JV (157.4 thousand units) and the 2018-2022 Lexus RX (68.4 thousands of pieces) assembled in Japan. All cars have a low-quality fuel pump installed by mistake.

The documents say that a defective fuel pump is susceptible to damage, cracks may form on it, and fuel leakage is possible. If fuel gets on hot parts of the car, a fire may occur. In addition, fuel evaporation has a negative impact on the environment and increases emissions.

Chinese Toyota dealers will diagnose high-pressure fuel pumps on all vehicles covered by the recall campaign. If necessary, the part will be replaced free of charge. Before repairs, the regulator advises not to park the car near sources of open fire and to immediately stop using the car if the smell of gasoline is detected.

Outside of China, there have been no large-scale Toyota recalls related to the defective fuel pump. However, in August, due to a similar malfunction, new-generation American Tundra pickups were repaired free of charge.

They would displace the Toyota Camry. If sold in Russia
