Expert Sergey Ponomarev on how to warm up a car even in the most severe frost

Fit Service expert Sergei Ponomarev gave recommendations on how to act correctly if you need to warm up a frozen car in severe frost. If you have the appropriate knowledge and tools, you can try to start the car yourself. In this case, the sequence of actions will be as follows: unscrew and dry the spark plugs, turn off the fuel supply and blow out the cylinders, charge the battery, and add a small amount of oil to the cylinders before starting. The motor is highly likely to start working.

However, if you have little experience, the expert recommends not to engage in a long startup procedure, but to ask a friend to help with the cigarette lighter wires or make a few attempts yourself. Excessive zeal can lead to flooding of engine oil and subsequent expensive repairs. The fact is that fuel, without burning, accumulates and gets into the oil, worsening its lubricating properties. Excessive rotation of the starter (more than 7 seconds) is also undesirable – this threatens overheating or failure, followed by replacement at a considerable cost.

In general, the most correct decision when “freezing” a car is to turn to professionals. For transportation, you need a tow truck, not towing – otherwise technical fluids may leak.
