Cars of the SWM brand, new to the Russian market, have been produced at Avtotor in Kaliningrad since the spring of this year, but they went on sale with a delay. The brand’s line includes three models: G01, G01F and G05 Pro, and all of them belong to the crossover segment. As Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes, the first copies of the G01F have begun to be shipped to car dealerships. The new product costs from 2.6 million rubles, and taking into account discounts, the price can be reduced to 2.25 million.

The G01F is a sportier variant of the G01 crossover. Both models are comparable in size to the Toyota RAV4 and are equipped with a combination of a 139-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo engine and a seven-speed robotic gearbox. Front-wheel drive only. The G01F’s equipment list includes four airbags, single-zone climate control and rear parking sensors. The “sports” crossover also has a multimedia system with a 10-inch screen, a digital instrument panel, a built-in video recorder, and a heated and ventilated driver’s seat.

After the launch of production at Avtotor, the SWM brand remained in the shadows for a long time. Only in November the first 25 dealership centers were opened, and in early December it became known about the arrival of cars.

According to preliminary data, the SWM G01 will cost from 2,438,220 to 2,478,240 rubles, and the G05 Pro crossover, which will be offered with a cabin for five and seven seats, will cost from 2,733,460 to 2,769,260 rubles. Perhaps the cost will increase slightly, as happened with SWM G01F (in November it was estimated at 2,588,340 – 2,628,350 rubles).

The SWM brand has Italian roots: in the 70s of the last century its name stood for Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano and it produced motorcycles. Later, the Milanese company was bought by the Chinese Shineray Motorcycle. The Chinese resumed assembling motorcycles in Italy, and at the same time chose a different decoding for the abbreviation SWM – Speedy Working Motors. Later, the new owners of SWM expanded the business into the automotive market, and Brilliance helped in this. The companies founded a joint venture, which first produced inexpensive minivans and then crossovers.
