The domestic concern UAZ is preparing to officially present the long-awaited update of its UAZ Patriot SUV for the 2025 model year. At least, this is the information that the Russian media are now disseminating. However, if this really happens, it will please many, because this model has not received any improvements for a very long time.

The path to the updated Patriot SUV began with an announcement last August when Sollers, the parent company of UAZ, unveiled its new Product Development Center in Kazan. The milestone marked the start of a comprehensive restyling initiative aimed at enhancing the SUV’s aesthetic appeal and performance characteristics. Notably, the integration and localization of the new diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission marks a significant step forward as people have been dreaming of such a combination in this car for a long time.

Yes, the “key” feature of the upcoming Patriot SUV is the arrival of a 2.0-liter diesel engine. Production of this engine recently began at the Sollers engine plant in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tatarstan. Prototypes have already been assembled and are undergoing strict factory tests, and anticipation is growing for the official launch of mass production of such a power unit (photo: UAZ).
