A restomod based on the classic Toyota Land Cruiser was presented at the SEMA exhibition

At the SEMA exhibition, not only absolute new products were demonstrated, but also restomods created on the basis of classic models. In particular, Toyota presented one such project at the event. We are talking about a unique variation of the classic 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser. The Retro Cruiser was presented exactly then, but this year it underwent minor upgrades.

Let us remember that the car was originally created by racer Rod Millen. At that time, the goal of the project was to demonstrate the development of technologies of that time and the heritage of the line itself. We used parts from two SUVs – a 1967 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser and a Land Cruiser 100. For this purpose, the frame was lengthened and the body itself was expanded. Accordingly, the suspension had to be created specifically for this restomod, which, by the way, has a large power reserve.

The new product is equipped with 17-inch wheels with 35-inch General Tire tires. Under the hood is a 4.7-liter engine with 230 horsepower. It is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. In addition, a transfer case and differential locks are included. The new version uses a Borla exhaust system made of stainless steel (photo: Toyota).
