The concept car, which will make its full debut at the IAA Mobility Motor Show in Munich in September, has been appropriately named the Opel Experimental. The electric car is based on the new Stellantis battery-powered vehicle (BEV) platform and is a C-class cross-coupe. If Opel releases its serial version, it will be able to compete with the Tesla Model Y.

The company itself says that the Experimental concept “gives an idea of future models, their design and technology.” Of the features of the appearance of the electric car, one can single out the complete absence of chrome elements, the unusual shape of the rear lights with a vertical luminous strip that cuts the stern in half, the illuminated Opel logo and a glass roof that smoothly turns into glass front and rear. It is stated that tires for the concept car were developed in conjunction with Goodyear – they were made from recycled rubber.

In the cabin there are lightweight seats with developed lateral support and a steering wheel that folds when the autopilot is activated. It follows from this that the electric car corresponds to the third or fourth level of autonomy according to the SAE classification, that is, it can drive independently without driver control. Instead of screens – projection displays with augmented reality, and instead of exterior mirrors – cameras with a 180-degree view, and they are integrated into the rear pillars.

Information about the power plant and dynamic characteristics of the Opel concept car was held until the full premiere at the IAA Mobility Motor Show in Munich. It will be held from 5 to 10 September 2023.
