A presentation of the four-door 2024 model year took place in China: the main event was the appearance of the new basic version 45 TFSI Quattro. These Audi A8Ls have a subcompact 2.0-liter engine under the hood without a hybrid add-on. The in-line engine develops 265 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, the transmission remains unchanged: 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive.

In the current generation, the Audi A8 did not have in-line engines: for almost six years, sedans have been produced only with V6 and V8. However, recently for the Chinese market they offered an option with an engine with a displacement of 1984 cubic centimeters. The starting price was reduced by 11 percent to 830 thousand yuan (equivalent to 113 thousand dollars).

Audi claims that the loss in dynamics relative to the six-cylinder version of the 50 TFSI (3.0 liters, 286 horsepower, 450 Nm) is small: the 0-100 acceleration time has increased by 0.1 seconds (to 6.7 seconds), and the top speed is the same ( 250 kilometers per hour). In addition, the four-cylinder A8L has become slightly more economical: AI-95 gasoline consumption is 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the combined WLTC cycle.

In China, Audi offers only long-wheelbase versions of the V8: even the “charged” S8 sedan is available with the letter L. At the top of the line is the luxurious Audi-Horch with an additional 13 cm insert. The most expensive are the versions with V8 engines: due to the specifics of taxation, the S8 L costs 2,078,600 yuan (285 thousand dollars), and the top-end Horch can be bought for 1,420,000 yuan (194 thousand dollars).
