The British automaker completed production of a batch of 12 recreated pre-war Bentley 4½ Liter Supercharged Blower Continuation Series sports cars, after which it immediately switched to preparing for the assembly of the Bentley 6½ Liter Speed Six Continuation Series. The first two vehicles – Car Zero and Factory Works – have already begun a multi-month program of factory static and dynamic testing, which will lead to the final specifications of customer cars.

The brand used two original Speed Six as prototypes: its own Speed Six GU409 from the factory collection and Old Number 3 – the factory Speed Six, which was driven by Sammy Davis and Clive Dunphy in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1930. The owner of this car provided it to the Mulliner team so they could gain invaluable insight into the car’s dimensions, materials and components, down to the last screw, nut and bolt.

More than 600 individual new parts were made for the new 6.5-liter racing engine, which produced 200 horsepower at the time, including a new cylinder block casting. Early dyno tests showed the Continuation Series engines producing 205 horsepower – higher results could be achieved with modern materials, but the goal of the Continuation Series project is to create Bentleys exactly as they were in 1930.

Following its debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Speed Six Car Zero has embarked on a testing program with 35,000 kilometers of real world driving and 8,000 kilometers on the race track awaiting it. The duration and speed of the races gradually increase, which allows you to test the functionality and durability of the machine in the most difficult conditions. Each customer Bentley 6½ Liter Speed Six Continuation Series will take ten months to build.
