In the very first hours after the start of sales, more than three thousand contracts were issued for the model, two thousand of which were for a crossover in the top-end Premier configuration. As Autostrada.uz writes, UzAuto Motors suspended execution of contracts for some versions of the model without explanation, and currently the waiting period for a car reaches nine months.

The Captiva model has not been sold in Uzbekistan since 2018, when the previous generation crossover was withdrawn from the Asian market. Now the local Chevrolet line has been expanded to eleven models, and it includes the Chinese-made Captiva 5. This is a mid-size crossover with 180 mm ground clearance, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 150 horsepower and a CVT.

UzAuto Motors began drawing up purchase agreements for Chevrolet Captiva 5 in early November. The crossover turned out to be noticeably cheaper than its competitors – the basic configuration with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, CVT and front-wheel drive could be purchased for 300 million soums (equivalent to 24.7 thousand dollars). This led to rush demand, a temporary suspension of contracts and months of waiting for a car.

Autostrada.uz suggests that sales were stopped in order to assess “how many cars will be paid for and how many were taken on hype.” Previously, the execution of contracts for Cobalt, Lacetti and Damas was suspended in the same way – clients actively used this service, so that the number of concluded contracts exceeded the 50 thousand mark. As in the case of Captiva, this also led to longer delivery times for vehicles.
