The director of AvtoVAZ said that the company was able to replace more than 400 foreign programs
The successful completion of the software import substitution project at AvtoVAZ is a landmark event for the domestic automobile industry. The company was able to achieve complete IT sovereignty in difficult economic conditions.
According to AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov, the company previously used more than 400 foreign specialized IT solutions in logistics, finance, and interaction with suppliers. This created serious risks of stopping the pipelines if their support and updates were stopped. To eliminate such a danger, back in May 2023, the plant began large-scale work to replace all imported programs with domestic developments. This required not only the transition to new systems, but also their modification to meet the needs of production.
Today Sokolov states that AvtoVAZ has fully achieved IT sovereignty. Now the company operates exclusively on Russian software. Thus, import substitution of software became an important stage in the integration of AvtoVAZ into the domestic auto industry after the departure of Renault. The company has gotten rid of critical dependence on foreign IT solutions and is now fully equipped with its own developments.
