As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports with reference to the BAIC representative office, sales of the new crossover have started: the first cars have already arrived in showrooms. The new product is presented in two levels of equipment: Comfort costing 2,755,000 rubles and Elite costing 2,999,000 rubles. But there is only one engine – a supercharged gasoline unit with a capacity of 177 horsepower. The model is produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.

The fourth model of the Chinese brand BAIC, produced in Kaliningrad, is entering the Russian market – the X55 crossover, a classmate of the Toyota RAV4, which is larger and more expensive than the “junior” X35. At the assembly launch stage, Avtotor reported that the X55 has a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 188 horsepower, but the official BAIC website indicates that the output of the unit is 177 horsepower. The engine is combined with a seven-speed “robot”, and the crossover has only front-wheel drive. The stated acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour is 7.8 seconds, and fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 7.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

In the entry-level Comfort trim, the X55 has a 10-inch digital instrument panel, rain sensor, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera with dynamic markings. The screen diagonal of the multimedia system is 10 inches, and the audio system has four speakers. In the Elite version, cruise control is already adaptive, there are seat ventilation, front parking sensors and all-round cameras are added.

In addition to the X55, Avtotor assembles the U5 Plus sedan and the X35 crossover (prices for them are not yet listed on the BAIC website), as well as the BJ40 frame all-wheel drive SUV, the recommended retail prices for which start from 4,059,000 rubles. Later, the listed models will be joined by the X7 crossover and the BAIC EU5 electric sedan, and the appearance of the “senior” BJ60 SUV is also expected.
