A Reddit user found a place where a quarter-mile race took place between a super-pickup truck at the head of a road train and a Porsche 911 in the back of a 992. It turned out that the promotional video showed a race of not 1/4, but 1/8 of a mile: this is evidenced by the location tribune. The Motor1.com portal also came to the conclusion that the duel between Tesla and Porsche took place over a short distance.

At a press conference, Elon Musk claimed that a Tesla Cybertruck with a Porsche 911 on a trailer is faster than the same Porsche 911 at a distance of a quarter mile. However, in the famous video, the finishing goal is opposite the stands. And at the closed training ground in Sacramento, where the race took place, the length of the stands is less than 402 meters: this is easy to check using Google panoramas.

The top version of the Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbest covers the quarter in less than 11 seconds, according to the official specifications. However, the pickup will obviously be slower under load, since the trailer with the Porsche 911 weighs at least 4,800 pounds (about 2.2 tons). It is not clear which Porsche 911 was taken for the duel, but it seems that we are talking about a slow version of the coupe with a “mechanics”: in the video you can see how the sports car nods a little when switching to second gear.

Journalists give Tesla marketers credit: the commercial is original and impressively effective. However, at a distance of a quarter mile, a super pickup truck with a trailer is unlikely to beat a Porsche 911, because even the slowest version of the Carrera covers the quarter mile in 12.2 seconds. There is no doubt that bloggers will try to repeat the experiment.
