The problem affected the Russians who went on vacation to Turkey on cars or motorcycles – now the Georgian border guards do not let them even to transit the country without Russian flags on their license plates.

The Georgian authorities justify this decision by paragraph 1a of the Vienna Convention, which states that vehicles participating in international traffic must be equipped with an identifier of their country. But it can be either a flag or, in the case of Russian numbers, an oval RUS sticker.

On the afternoon of July 20, a traffic jam formed on the border of Georgia from several dozen cars and motorcycles that cannot enter the country. At the same time, the Russians still do not experience any difficulties when crossing the border on Upper Lars.

At the beginning of 2023, it became known that Russian drivers would have to book a seat in an electronic queue to cross the border. As conceived by the authors of the project, such a solution should reduce the queue by a quarter.

Watch out, drunken toad!
