The traffic police told how it is not necessary to install license plates in Russia

According to traffic police inspectors, many Russian car owners make typical mistakes when installing and operating license plates. Although most diligently attach their license plates, some break the rules out of ignorance or deliberately to avoid fines from cameras.

The most common violations are partial or complete obstruction of rooms with additional equipment such as luggage racks, bicycle racks, and spare wheels. For such neglect of the law, a fine of up to 5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights for up to three months is imposed.

There are cases of improper fastening, which is why the numbers fall off along the way. If the driver does not correct this in a timely manner and continues to drive with a missing identification sign, he also faces a substantial fine or temporary loss of his driver’s license. It is worth keeping in mind that according to the Russian standard, license plates should be located strictly in the center, or slightly to the right. A separate problem is the adaptation of foreign cars to domestic license plates. Their owners are sometimes forced to drill new mounting holes in signs, which is prohibited under the threat of a substantial monetary penalty or disqualification for up to a year.
