This comparison was made by the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov. He said that the level of robotization and automation in a number of production facilities, in particular on the Granta welding line, is 82 percent. According to Sokolov, the level of robotization in the best factories in Japan “at one time was 90 percent.” “This level of labor productivity is directly in AvtoVAZ itself,” added the head of the company.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, Sokolov said that in 2023, 200 thousand copies of Lada Granta will roll off the assembly line of the Tolyatti plant. Considering that the general annual plan provides for the production of about 400 thousand cars, it turns out that approximately every second car assembled at AvtoVAZ is a Granta. The head of AvtoVAZ emphasized that “today the lines operate with the highest productivity.”

In addition to the plant in Tolyatti, AvtoVAZ operates the former Nissan production site in St. Petersburg – so far only one model is assembled there, the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover, also known as the Chinese FAW Bestune T77. Production began in June, but the car has not yet gone on sale. In addition to the St. Petersburg enterprise, AvtoVAZ also has Lada Izhevsk – Largus production is currently being transferred there and its electric version, e-Largus, is planned to be assembled there.

Earlier it was reported that AvtoVAZ’s production plan for 2023, which envisages the production of 400 thousand cars, could be adjusted by 10 percent due to the difficulties that the plant is experiencing after it was included in the sanctions list of the US Treasury. Foreign banks began to block payments to AvtoVAZ, and suppliers en masse refused to cooperate with the Russian company.
