Recently, the restyled Hyundai Creta entered the Indian market, which caused a stir, but the automaker is in no hurry to update its seven-seater version called Alcazar. According to Autocar India, its debut was expected in mid-2024, but it was delayed by several months – to September-October. The reason for this was allegedly the low demand for the three-row version of the model.

Indian journalists cite the following statistics: on average, a regular Creta with five seats sells 10 thousand copies per month, but the three-row Alcazar is bought seven times worse – no more than one and a half thousand units. Because of this, a large number of unsold Alcazars have accumulated in dealers’ warehouses, so it is not yet practical to release an updated version.

The differences between Creta and Alcazar come down to the length of the wheelbase and the number of seats in the cabin, but otherwise the crossovers are identical. So it’s logical to assume that the Alcazar update will follow the same scenario as Creta. Externally, the new product will resemble the “older” Palisade, the interior will be modernized, and a turbo engine will be added to the range of engines.

Inside, the updated Creta has a completely redesigned front panel with a cluster that combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a multimedia system screen of the same size with three design options. The massive “tidy” visor is also a thing of the past.

The new turbo engine mentioned is a 1.5-liter unit with 160 horsepower, which replaced the 140-horsepower one. It is paired with a seven-band preselective “robot”. The other two engines – a naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5 turbodiesel – remained in service. The first develops 115 horsepower and is paired with a manual gearbox or CVT; the second, in addition to manual transmission, has a six-speed automatic transmission. The drive, as before, is front-wheel drive only.

Prices for the updated Creta in India start from 1.1 million rupees (1.2 million rubles at the current exchange rate) and reach two million (2.1 million rubles). The seven-seat Alcazar will cost more.
