Toyota’s most affordable SUV may be called Land Cruiser FJ

Toyota is developing the most affordable and compact version of the legendary Land Cruiser SUV. It was previously assumed that the model would be called Land Hopper, but now new information has appeared.

The Japanese automaker has filed a trademark application for the Land Cruiser FJ. Most likely, this is what the budget “Cruiser” will be called. This will be a reference to the recently discontinued FJ Cruiser SUV. The new product will be much more compact than its namesake; its dimensions are comparable to the Corolla Cross crossover. But the body proportions will be adapted for off-road use. It is not yet known which platform Toyota will choose – frame or monocoque.

It is expected that the engine lineup will include gasoline engines, as well as hybrid units from the RAV4 and Prius. The release of the new budget Land Cruiser FJ is expected in the coming years. This model will make the legendary SUV more accessible to a wide range of buyers. Toyota demonstrates its willingness to move with the times by offering compact and fuel-efficient versions of iconic cars. (photo: Toyota)
