According to Gazeta.ru, citing its own sources, as well as tax and statutory documents, the Russian office of Kia opens a representative office in Kazakhstan, where it will be able to resume direct operating activities. At the same time, the Korean brand does not abandon its Russian importer, whose work is reduced to a minimum. In Kazakhstan, Kia intends to build a plant that will produce cars, including for the Russian market.

Gazeta.ru found out that since August 10 of this year, the Russian legal entity Kia Russia and CIS LLC has registered changes in the statutory documents – it has indicated a connection with a practically identical legal entity, a representative office of Kia Russia and CIS LLC in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which in turn the queue was entered in the register of legal entities of Kazakhstan on June 26.

In Kazakhstan, Kia will build a joint venture with the largest local automotive group, Allur Auto. The legal entity Kia registered in the country will be engaged in the operation of the joint venture and the distribution of cars. It is reported that a pilot batch of cars will be released at a joint venture between Kia and Allur in 2025.

Currently, the Allur plant, located in Kostanay, produces the K5, Sorento and Picanto by the SKD method, and the Sportage by the SKD method, which Cerato will join by the end of 2023. In addition to these models, Kia sells Sorento, Seltos, Carnival, Ceed, K9, Ceed SW, Stinger, EV6 and XCeed in the Kazakh market.

Kia suspended its activities in Russia after the start of the CBO – the supply of cars from abroad and the production of cars at factories in Kaliningrad (Avtotor) and St. Petersburg (Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus) stopped. At the same time, the Korean company has not yet announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, just like the parent Hyundai.
