The coupe drove a lap of more than seven kilometers eight seconds faster than the 520-horsepower Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR. Interestingly, the record came out by accident. The check-in was routine, for marketing purposes, and the car was not even properly prepared. The hypercar’s potential has only been revealed to 90 percent, so Koenigsegg has a chance to improve its own achievement.

The Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar set a record for the Gotland Ring track, located on the Swedish island of Gotland. The coupe completed the full lap (7.3 km) in 2:56.97, improving the result of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR (3:04.83) by eight seconds. The Jesko was driven by test driver Niklas Lilja. Time was measured using Racelogic equipment. According to Koenigsegg, the record was not planned. The race was quite routine, and Niklas revealed only 90 percent of the hypercar’s potential. The car was even filled with AI-98 gasoline, although the return would have been higher if E85 had been replaced.

On regular fuel, Jesko produces 1280 horsepower, on bioethanol – 1600. Peak torque of 1500 Nm is available at 5100 rpm, 1000 Nm – in the range of 2700–6170. The hypercar has rear-wheel drive. Power to the wheels comes through a nine-speed Light Speed Transmission with eight multi-plate clutches in an oil bath. Yesko also has Triplex suspensions with additional horizontal shock absorbers to combat roll and a fully controlled chassis. By the way, the Jesko Attack version was chosen for the race. It is more tailored for the track and has aggressive aerodynamics.

In contrast, Jesko Absolut has a more rapid profile. Instead of a fixed wing, there are two longitudinal fins that stabilize the car at high speed. The front splitter is devoid of winglets, there are no canard wings, and the rear is lengthened by 85 millimeters. Thanks to this, at maximum speed the Jesko Absolut generates only 150 kilograms of downforce, while the Jesko Attack generates almost one and a half tons. Calculations have shown that the low coefficient of aerodynamic drag will allow the coupe to reach 532 kilometers per hour.

Fast and very expensive
