For the upcoming Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, the Japanese company has prepared its own premiere. This will be a mobile living room, or Mobile Living Room, designed to take the comfort of home outside the home. It is a glass box on wheels with adjustable transparency that moves smoothly through the streets, simultaneously interacting with the outside world and its passengers.

Inside the mobile living room there is an L-shaped sofa, handrails and tables. The glass opposite those sitting can turn into an interactive screen through which you can control certain functions. It is non-touch: you can interact with the machine’s intelligence using voice or gestures.

In addition to “communicating” with passengers, the Mobile Living Room will monitor the road. Thanks to various sensors and an advanced autopilot, it will even be able to predict some actions of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.

The room will be equipped with an electric power plant. Cars of the future, according to Panasonic, will play the role of mobile batteries and share energy with houses (vehicle-to-home) and other cars (vehicle-to-vehicle), receiving it both from the network and from solar panels on the roofs of buildings.

Visitors to the Japan Mobility Show will be able to get acquainted with Panasonic’s development. The test drive, however, will be virtual.

Manufacturers are striving to make not only electric cars more comfortable, but also charging stations, where car owners still have to spend a lot of time. In the spring, Tesla showed a project for a retrofuturism-style station with its own cafe and cinema. And in July, Porsche opened its first charging lounge, complete with entertainment, vending machines, a relaxation area and a training area.
