American rapper, actor and TV presenter Xzibit published a mysterious teaser on his social networks. It reads It’s time to get back to customizing rides, which can be translated as “It’s time to get back to customizing the cars,” and also contains the date – May 9, 2024. Perhaps we are talking about the return of the famous TV show “Pimp My Ride” on MTV, which was originally called Pimp My Ride.

Pimp My Ride, which aired on MTV in the 2000s, restored and modified poorly maintained cars from Los Angeles and other Southern California cities.

Along with the repairs, the cars underwent large-scale tuning, often with an abundance of chrome and interior electronics. The owner’s hobbies were also taken into account: for example, a ball spinner was placed in the trunk of a bowling fan, and a surfer received a built-in clothes dryer.

In the first four seasons, the “pumping” was done by the West Coast Customs studio. Since the fifth season, Galpin Auto Sports was responsible for the remodeling, whose craftsmen usually restored the exterior and interior decoration from scratch.

The show aired from 2004 to 2007, during which time it aired seven seasons and 73 episodes. After its closure, its place on the air was taken by the Trick It Out program, in which several tuning studios competed with each other.

Cars converted for the show often turned up for sale. So, three years ago, Goldin Auctions put up a lowrider based on a 1963 Chevrolet Impala, tuned by the “Pimp Your Ride” masters. An exclusive dark purple body color was developed for it, the glass was replaced, the chrome was restored, and the interior was decorated with Swarovski crystals.
