The first of them, the large ix7 crossover, was identified by the Chinese Cars portal in official Avtotor photographs from the launch of another model, the BAIC X7. In the same pictures, a second Dongfeng car was also revealed – the ix5 cross-coupe. Now Auto.mail.ru, with reference to one of the Kaliningrad dealers and a source at the plant, reports that Avtotor has indeed begun production of the ix5, but so far in test mode.

Dongfeng ix5 is built on the same platform as the 580 model, which is already sold in Russia. The new cross-coupe, which is 4.68 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.79 meters, is a potential competitor to the Haval F7x, Geely Tugella and Changan CS85. At the same time, the Dongfeng ix5 is inferior in power to the Geely and Changan models – under the hood it has a 150-horsepower 1.5-liter engine. The gearbox is a variator, and the drive is only front-wheel drive.

Other characteristics are also known: the maximum speed of the ix5 is 180 kilometers per hour and per 100 kilometers the crossover consumes 7.1 liters of gasoline in the combined cycle. Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, cruise control, a power sunroof, a rearview camera and a multimedia system with a modest seven-inch screen. More expensive versions have a 10.25-inch virtual instrument panel, a panoramic roof and climate control instead of air conditioning.

In China, Dongfeng ix5 costs from 99.8 to 165.9 thousand yuan (1.27-2.1 million rubles at today’s exchange rate).

As for the aforementioned ix7, it is a seven-seat crossover the size of the Exeed VX. It is equipped with a two-liter engine with 231 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission, and can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The official distributor of Dongfeng passenger cars is Motorinvest, which last week announced the expansion of its model line in Russia. The list provided by the company includes both ix7 and ix5.
