About 51 percent of Russians feel comfortable behind the wheel, 43 percent feel comfortable behind the wheel, and 43 percent feel comfortable behind the wheel, experts from the service for buying and selling cars SberAuto and the media holding Rambler&Co found out. Another five percent admitted that their confidence is directly related to the driving situation, while the remaining one percent feel uncomfortable driving. More than 140 thousand people from all Russian regions took part in the survey.

The worst things for drivers turned out to be the sudden appearance of motorcyclists, cyclists and scooter riders, as well as pedestrians jumping onto the road in the wrong place. They scare 22 percent of respondents. Rough driving of others worries 19 percent, and car breakdown on the road worries ten percent of drivers.

Nine percent are afraid to drive in bad weather, seven percent – in the dark. The same seven percent of respondents are afraid of the risk of an accident. Also among the phobias are driving on an unfamiliar route (six percent) and the possibility of being left on the highway with an empty gas tank (four percent). Another four percent were fearless and did not check any of the options.

Stopping by a traffic police officer and driving along serpentine roads frightens three percent of motorists. The least worrying were traffic controllers, uncontrolled intersections and roundabouts: two percent of survey participants would like to avoid them.

Earlier, Russians shared their fears associated with electric cars. In “battery” cars, they are afraid of the risk of a short circuit, battery discharge while driving, as well as its rapid wear.
