At the Beijing Auto Show, a pre-production all-terrain vehicle from the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture was shown. Externally, there will be no differences from the “global” analogue, but the technology will be original: under the hood there will be a 2.0-liter turbo engine, which will be combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Probably, Santa Fe will share the filling with its predecessor.

In South Korea and the USA, the basic Santa Fe crossover is equipped with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, but in China increasing the displacement is unprofitable from a tax point of view, so you will have to rely on a 2.0-liter engine. The markings and characteristics are not specified, but most likely we are talking about the 230-horsepower (353 Nm) G4KH “turbo-four”.

The newest Hyundai Santa Fe has officially begun to be sold in Kazakhstan. Hyundai has started selling the ideal business sedan for taxi. Three thousand Solaris cars were assembled at the ex-Hyundai plant.

Another innovation for the Chinese market is the ability to select interior configurations. The current Hyundai Santa Fe is offered only with a six-seater cabin, but the new crossover will be offered with five, six or seven seats. There are no photos of the interior yet; the slides from the presentation show the “global” version, but the Chinese-assembled Santa Fe may have some differences.

The debut of the crossover from the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture is scheduled for August. Specifications and prices will be announced at that time. Hybrid and off-road versions for the new product have not yet been announced. The outgoing generation Hyundai Santa Fe is sold at a discount of up to 20 percent and costs from 163 to 230 thousand yuan (22.5-31.7 thousand dollars).
