This is the number of cars produced by the Porsche plant in Leipzig, which has been operating since 2002. Initially, the company assembled the Cayenne, without welding or painting – these processes were established at the Volkswagen plant in Slovakia. Seven years ago, the Leipzig site mastered the full production cycle with the launch of the Panamera model, and now three models are assembled there: Cayenne, Panamera and Macan.
The two millionth car rolled off the assembly line the other day, and it was the new generation Panamera, reports the Porsche press service. This is a Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid in Madeira Gold Metallic for a customer in Dubai. The starting price of such a car is 192,500 euros (19.2 million rubles at the current exchange rate). This is how much a hybrid Panamera with a 4.0-liter 519-horsepower V8 turbo engine and a 191-horsepower electric motor integrated into an eight-speed PDK “robot” will cost. The total power of the units is 680 horsepower, and the battery capacity is 25.9 kilowatt-hours. On pure electricity, the hybrid travels up to 91 kilometers.

Panamera changed its generation at the end of November this year. In addition to the Turbo E-Hybrid, the family includes a rear-wheel drive Panamera and all-wheel drive Panamera 4 with a petrol 2.9-liter 353-horsepower V6 turbo engine, versions with V8 engines (they will appear later and will be available only in some markets) and three not yet presented hybrid of the E-Hybrid line.
As for the plant in Leipzig, it now provides jobs for 4.4 thousand residents of Saxony. Several years ago, with the support of Ericsson, the enterprise was connected to the 5G network: the broadband network uses non-commercial frequencies and robot control is implemented through it.
Porsche’s main production facilities are located in Zuffenhausen in southwest Germany.
