American journalists noticed a prototype of the updated TRX in Michigan and identified it by the sound: under the hood was an inline six-cylinder Hurricane engine. Thus, the Stellantis concern will not be left without a competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor. The successor to the RAM TRX truck will be closer not to the ultimate Raptor R with a 5.2 V8 engine, but to the original version with a 3.5-liter V6.

In September, RAM Trucks confirmed that the TRX with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 would be discontinued by the end of the year. Buyers were even offered a “farewell” special version of the superpickup for almost 118 thousand dollars. They kept silent about the prospects of the “charged” model, but it seems that the powerful RAM trucks are not in danger of oblivion.

American journalists caught a camouflaged prototype of the updated RAM TRX, which is predicted to have an in-line 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo six. It is expected that such a pickup will develop at least 510 horsepower and 678 Nm. It is possible that the truck will receive the most powerful version of the new turbo engine, that is, the output will be 550 horsepower.

Be that as it may, after restyling, the TRX will lose charisma and power, because now the 6.2-liter V8 produces 712 horsepower. However, by the standards of the six-cylinder Ford F-150 Raptor, the performance is decent, because the “blue oval” on pickup trucks squeezes out only 456 horsepower from the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost.
