It will be a restomod Jaguar XJS, designed by Haizal Salim. The guest stylist will be Magnus Walker. He is known as a fashion designer, vintage Porsche enthusiast and petrolhead.

TWR, founded by the son of Scottish racer Tom Walkinshaw, Fergus, decided to take up the old ways. Literally. Its first model, teased at the end of October, will be a restomod based on the Jaguar XJS (1975-1996). In this way, continuity with the original Tom Walkinshaw Racing, which actively collaborated with Jaguar in the 1980s and 1990s, will be maintained. This partnership resulted in victories at Le Mans and two outstanding road models – the XJR-15 and XJ220.

And this is a road Jaguar. From 1984 to 1988, Tom Walkinshaw Racing produced several hundred modified XJS coupes and convertibles, which featured trim, upgraded engines and a stainless steel exhaust system. XJS TWR came with a 3.6 in-line six or a 5.3 V12, and the latter could be “bore” up to six liters. Mandatory attributes of the cars were a lowered and stiffer suspension, as well as retuned steering and powerful brakes.
Classic Register

In the history of TWR there was also successful experience in fine-tuning the XJS. In 1984, one of these cars won the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) and brought the British brand its first victory in a 24-hour marathon since Le Mans 1957. The coupe had a V12 5.3 engine. It received a high-lift camshaft from a Formula 1 car and new pistons, so it could spin up to 7,300 rpm and produce about 500 horsepower. The racing XJS accelerated to 60 mph (97 km/h) in approximately 4.5 seconds and reached a top speed of 290 kilometers per hour.

TWR

Building on this legacy, the newly formed TWR will reimagine and bring the XJS into the 21st century. The most interesting thing is that the well-known Khyzyl Saleem will be responsible for the design of the restomod, and vintage Porsche collector and petrolhead Magnus Walker will act as a consultant. According to Magnus, he himself wanted to do something similar and even discussed with Ian Callum an outlaw version of the XJS, the reference for which was to be the XJ sedan of Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain. In general, the stars aligned perfectly. Well, TWR promises to reveal details about the project in early 2024.
