Tips for car care in winter from car experts

The cold season is a test for many components and assemblies of a car. This primarily concerns the battery, the capacity of which is significantly reduced at low temperatures. In addition, various heating systems in the cabin (seats, windshield, steering wheel, etc.) require additional output from the battery. If the battery has already exhausted its life or is undercharged, then it may not be enough to start the engine on a frosty morning. In this case, it is better to replace the battery with a new one.

Another aspect that needs to be paid close attention to in winter is the car body. Chemical reagents used to treat road surfaces in the cold season negatively affect the paintwork and accelerate the occurrence of corrosion. Therefore, in winter it is important to wash your car regularly – even more often than in summer. After washing, it is advisable to dry the car properly, for example, in a warm underground parking lot of a shopping center. If this is not possible, then the hinges and door locks must be treated with de-icer, and the rubber seals lubricated with silicone grease to maintain their elasticity.

And lastly: in winter, drivers often leave the fuel tank not completely filled. However, when the fuel level is low, condensation forms on the walls of the tank, which also negatively affects the condition of the metal.
