Information about an entry-level single-volume car has appeared in the open database of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of China. This Voyah Dream will be offered only as a “pure” electric vehicle with a lithium iron phosphate battery and a single rear electric motor with 292 horsepower. So far, all minivans of the premium Dongfeng brand are all-wheel drive, so the starting price is 340 thousand yuan (47 thousand dollars).

Judging by photographs from the database of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the People’s Republic of China, the rear-wheel drive Voyah Dream will not differ in any way from its all-wheel drive counterparts. Even the usual multi-spoke 20-inch chrome wheels will remain. There is no information about the power reserve, but reducing the output from 435 to 292 horsepower could have a positive effect on autonomy.

Now a minivan without a gasoline generator can travel from 510 to 650 kilometers without recharging, depending on the capacity of the lithium-ion battery (82.1 or 108.7 kilowatt-hours). The hybrid’s performance is even better (1,231 kilometers), but such a rear-wheel drive minivan has not yet been certified. In China, Voyah Dream’s starting prices do not depend on the type of power plant.

It is expected that a rear-wheel drive minivan will be in demand in China, because there is no need for all-wheel drive in the domestic market. But reducing the starting price to around 300 thousand yuan (41 thousand dollars) could spur sales. A simplified Voyah Dream is unlikely to appear in Russia. So far in our country, prices for the model range from 8.6 to 17.0 million rubles.
