BYD showed a conceptual hot hatch Ocean M at the Beijing Auto Show. Production of its production version will begin at the end of summer. The car we see then probably won’t look as wild as the concept.

According to company representatives, Ocean M will take place in the company’s model line between Dolphin and Seal. The company says that the new product is created on a new electric platform.

The front end has echoes of the Lamborghini Aventador, as unlikely as that may sound, and the rising waistline and narrow rear window give the car a very dynamic appearance. Rearview cameras may not make it to production, or at least not on base models, but flush-mounted door handles may well remain.

It is known that the electric car will be rear-wheel drive. Unfortunately, the Chinese automaker decided to keep all the technical details of the new product secret. But we can predict that the new product from BYD will have a power reserve of 450-500 km, depending on the version and driving style.

According to various sources, the new electric car will have several versions and exterior trim packages.

BYD representatives reported that a production electric car will cost from 20,700 to 27,600 dollars (~1.9-2.5 million rubles).
