Autopotok spoke with Mohsen Aletakha, editor-in-chief of Khodro Bank, the largest automotive publication in Iran. The occasion is appropriate: an exhibition of Lada cars was held in Tehran, and the Volzhsky Automobile Plant is preparing to begin export deliveries. According to unofficial data, Granta, Vesta and Niva Legend are undergoing certification in Iran, and the cars will be offered with a CVT.

Mohsen Aletha said that Niva Travel is outdated and has outdated options, so sales will depend on price. The Lada Granta expert expects good sales only if AvtoVAZ manages to avoid paying import duties. The chief editor of Khodro Bank liked Vesta Cross and Vesta Sportline: in his opinion, only they can fight the “Chinese” on equal terms.

The specialist noted that if AvtoVAZ “can find a local partner to manufacture its products, use its service network and offer its products at a competitive price, it will have a chance of success.” At the same time, only the older generation remembers Soviet Lada cars, so the Volzhsky Automobile Plant has the opportunity to create a new brand image.

Initially, it was planned that Iranian cars would also appear in Russia, but the local company SAIPA left our country without having time to enter the market. Due to the changed economic situation, trade in “Iranians” was considered unprofitable: it’s all about increasing the recycling fee and changes in exchange rates.
