The British automaker reported a net loss of 48.4 million pounds ($58.8 million) in the third quarter of 2023, higher than expected. The company also had problems with the production of the new generation DB12, which is why Aston Martin adjusted annual sales volumes: instead of seven thousand cars, it is planned to sell 6.7 thousand units.

The company’s results were worse than analysts had expected for a more modest third-quarter loss of about £38 million. At the same time, a year earlier for the same period, Aston Martin’s losses were even greater – 55 million pounds sterling. One of the reasons for such indicators in July-September 2023 was problems with increasing production volumes of the new DB12 due to difficulties with the supply of components. This affected both quarterly sales and will affect annual sales – the plan was reduced by 300 cars.

Aston Martin calls the DB12 “the most advanced DB yet” and “the benchmark for performance, ultra-luxury and style.” The sports car is driven by an eight-cylinder engine with a capacity of 680 horsepower, which is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The DB12 accelerates from zero to 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) in 3.5 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the DB11 AMR) and has a limited top speed of 325 kilometers per hour.

Sales of the model started in the third quarter. Interestingly, for 55 percent of those who buy a DB12, it is their first Aston Martin.
