At the end of this year or at the beginning of 2024, the Russian manufacturer will begin preparing to assemble new models with Chinese “pedigree,” Autobroker Club reports, citing its own unnamed sources. According to them, the nameplate of the Russian car brand will be used by cars from the Dongfeng and Chery model range – a compact sedan and crossover.

It is expected that AvtoVAZ will establish production of new Russified “Chinese” vehicles at the facilities of the plant in Izhevsk. Now it is idle, but in any case the site will not remain empty: the first Lada Largus bodies should be welded there in November.

The AvtoVAZ press service has not yet commented on the information about the new models.

At the same time, the auto giant already has some agreements with Dongfeng. At the end of August, it was reported that the Chinese engineering division could help AvtoVAZ create a new model that would be sold under the Lada brand – not Dongfeng.

The collaboration with Chery became known in July. It turned out that Chery is negotiating with AvtoVAZ about localizing production at the car plant in St. Petersburg (now Lada St. Petersburg) of the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 crossovers.

At the same time, Lada already has one “Chinese” in its arsenal, which is rolling off the assembly line of the St. Petersburg plant – this is the Lada X-Cross 5 or FAW Bestune T77 crossover with a boat on the radiator grille. AvtoVAZ promises to deliver the first copies to car dealerships by the end of the year.
