In the brand’s lineup, the new product will take a place between the M4 Competition M xDrive and the limited-edition M4 CSL, and from the latter it received a 550-horsepower engine with a forged crankshaft and a 3D-printed cylinder head. From zero to 60 mph, the M4 CS accelerates 0.1 seconds faster than the regular M4 Competition Coupé M xDrive and 0.3 seconds faster than the M4 CSL, which only drives the rear wheels.

In the hierarchy of BMW M sports cars, the new M4 CS will occupy a niche between the M4 Competition Coupé M xDrive and the M4 CSL. The engine from the latter is a 3.0 in-line petrol twin-turbo six, which is used as the basis of the M4 GT3 engine. The unit develops 550 horsepower and 650 Nm and is combined with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. In the sprint to one hundred, the M4 CS is faster than the CSL (3.7 seconds), but the cars accelerate to the second hundred with a difference of 0.4 seconds – and not in favor of the newcomer. The maximum speed is also different: 307 kilometers per hour for the M4 CSL and 302 for the M4 CS.

Unlike the Limited two-door, which comes only with rear-wheel drive, the CS has an M xDrive all-wheel drive transmission with an active rear differential. The kinematics of all suspensions and wheel camber angles have been revised on the car, recalibrated electronically controlled shock absorbers, auxiliary springs and anti-roll bars have been installed. At the same time, the settings of the electromechanical power steering M Servotronic, stabilizing electronics and modes of the M Dynamic Mode system have been changed. The result is a complete lap of the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 21.989 seconds, more than six seconds faster than the regular M4 Competition.

However, the M4 CS also weighs less. The difference is small – about 20 kilograms, but it also makes its contribution. The roof, hood, front splitter and rear diffuser are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. Standard on the car are M Compound brakes, forged wheels of different sizes, a lightweight exhaust pipe with a titanium muffler (minus 4 kg) and M Carbon bucket seats. For an additional fee, you can order carbon ceramics, racing slicks and a set of aluminum struts for the front part of the body.

The M4 CS also comes as standard with M Drive Professional. It gives you access to the M Drift Analyzer, which evaluates sideways slip, and the M Laptimer, which provides detailed driving data and allows you to share it with friends. In addition, there is advanced traction control – with as many as ten levels of intervention. The M4 CS will be produced at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. The start of production is scheduled for July this year, but orders will begin to be accepted at the end of May. In the USA, the two-door was valued at $123,500, which corresponds to 11.3 million rubles.
