A 70-year-old American woman received a hypercar for her birthday. Together with the designers of the Sur Mesure department, she styled the modern coupe after its legendary ancestor, or rather, the example that is exhibited at the Mullin Automotive Museum in the USA. The work done cannot but cause admiration. “Supersport” received an “Atlantic” style paint job and commemorative decor.

One of the unique experiences available to Bugatti customers is the opportunity to participate in the car’s creation process. The clearest example of this is the Chiron Super Sport 57 One of One, styled after the masterpiece Type 57 SC Atlantic. When developing the hypercar, the designers of the Sur Mesure department were inspired by the Atlantic example stored in the Mullin Automotive Museum in the USA. It was him who was first seen by the new owner of Supersport twenty years ago, and this image sank deeply into her soul.

An unexpected gift from my husband for his 70th birthday in the form of a personal invitation to Molsheim, Bugatti’s headquarters, came at just the right time. Moreover, already during the first meeting, the chief designer of Sur Mesure, Yasha Straub, understood in which direction they would have to work. The hypercar was painted in the bright silver-blue shade of the original Type 57 SC Atlantic. Creating a color scheme was not a problem. But to make sure the hit was accurate, Straub took the sample to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, where the client’s memorable car was on display at the time.

Besides the color, another striking feature of the Chiron Super Sport 57 One of One is the new radiator grille with vertical bars and a thicker central spine. Five-spoke wheels, like those of the Atlantic, go into the blue. The silhouette of a coupe is depicted on the bottom of the wing, plus it can be seen on the door panels. The embroidery on the headrests deserves special attention – this is the famous “Dancing Elephant” by Rembrandt Bugatti, a symbol of artistry and at the same time the emblem of the luxurious Bugatti Type 41 Royale.

As a rule, in such projects the technical component fades into the background, or even into the background, although there are no changes compared to other Chiron Super Sport. The hypercar is powered by a W16 8.0 quad-turbo engine with an output of 1600 horsepower and 1600 Nm of torque. A seven-speed “robot” with two clutches, in which the gear ratios are adjusted, allows you to accelerate to 300 kilometers per hour in just 12.1 seconds. The Supersport’s top speed is 440 kilometers per hour.
