Ferrari has added a new addition to its lineup with the introduction of the 12Cilindri supercar, which will replace the 812 Superfast and be as powerful as the 812 Competizione. The new product is built on a new aluminum platform and is equipped with next-generation auxiliary electronics. The Berlinetta and the Roadster received version 8.0 of the lateral slip assistant, a fully controlled chassis, active aerodynamics and the innovative Aspirated Torque Shaping function, which changes the torque curve depending on the selected gear.

The successor to the Ferrari 812 Superfast, called 12Cilindri, still relies on the naturally aspirated V12 6.5, but with modified internals. Most of the components, from the titanium connecting rods to the rebalanced and lighter crankshaft, are from the 812 Competizione, but there are also innovations.

Among them, the Aspirated Torque Shaping software add-on stands out, allowing you to change the maximum torque depending on the selected gear. It does not affect the dynamics in any way, but only creates the effect of linear acceleration, that is, it emotionally nourishes the driver.

The power of the unit remained the same – 830 horsepower. But the torque due to the installation of a catalyst and particulate filter decreased from 692 to 678 Nm. But 80 percent of the thrust is available already at 2500 rpm, and the cutoff is triggered only at 9500 rpm. The gearbox is an eight-speed DCT robot from the SF90. Rear-wheel drive.

The Berlinetta has a fully controlled Virtual Short Wheelbase 3.0 chassis and is equipped with Side Slip Control version 8.0, which determines the level of road grip 10 percent more accurately. In addition, the supercar features a brake-by-wire braking system and an ABS Evo controller, which debuted with the 296 GTB.

Acceleration to “hundreds” in the 12Cilindri takes 2.9 seconds (+0.05 seconds compared to Competizione), to 200 kilometers per hour – 7.9 (+0.4). The maximum speed “exceeds 340 kilometers per hour.” The 812 Superfast had the same performance.

The 12Cilindri Spider roadster, presented at the same time as the coupe, is a little slower: 0-100 – 2.95 seconds, 0-200 – 8.2.

This car is distinguished by a hard folding roof, which transforms in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour, although otherwise it is identical to the Berlinetta.

Externally, as Maranello claims, the 12Cilindri imitates models of the 50s and 60s of the last century, which is clearly visible from the front end in the spirit of the GTB/4 Daytona. The design language has become more complex, but still respects the requirements of stylistic unity. In profile, the Berlinetta looks swift and bold.

At the stern there is a small protrusion and two active flaps, which add pressure at speeds of 60-300 kilometers per hour, depending on the magnitude of the longitudinal and lateral accelerations acting on the car. Improves aerodynamics and a profiled underbody with six vortex generators in the front.

The interior architecture of the 12Cilindri, with its clearly defined driver and passenger areas, is reminiscent of the Ferrari Roma and Purosangue. The media system here is new, with three displays: a 10.25-inch central diagonal, a 15.6-inch instrument panel, and an 8.8-inch diagonal screen on the passenger side. Berlinetta received a steering wheel with touch buttons, wireless charging, and a high-end Burmester audio system with 15 speakers appeared on the list of options.

The decoration uses Alcantara, which, for the sake of the environment, consists of 65 percent recycled polyester. For the same reason, the transmission subframe mounts are made from recycled aluminum, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 146 kilograms.

The 12Cilindri is based on a new aluminum chassis with a wheelbase shortened by 20 millimeters. Revisions to the geometry of a number of components have achieved a 15 percent increase in torsional rigidity (compared to the 812 Superfast) and make the car’s behavior more predictable.

Sales of the new supercars will start in the fourth quarter of this year. In Italy, the Berlinetta will cost from 395 thousand euros (39.5 million rubles), while for the Spider they will ask for at least 435 thousand (43.5 million rubles). /m
